Job Description for Network Consulting Engineer (NCE)

Greater China Advanced Services is a growingorganization of Solution Architects, Engineers and Project Managers who provideprofessional services to customers during plan, build, managestages.  

AS services support in the areas ofborderless networks, data center, collaboration, video and SP mobility.With a team of ~150 people in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hong Kongand Taipei, we help customers realize the full value of their IT investmentsfaster.

Responsibilities:

The NCE may perform any of the following componentsof the role breakdown depending on specific engagements:

Transactional Projects ProjectEngineering role:

·        Assistsin generation of standard project documentation including test plans.

·        Assistsin generation of network configurations from Low Level Design

·        Assistsin execution of project delivery including network staging, implementation andhandover

·        Assistswith pre-sales activity

·        Assistsin Network Upgrade and Migration Activities

  

Transactional Projects ProjectConsulting role:

·        Attendsdesign workshop

·        Providesdesign assistance and performance engineering services as well as networkdesign work for large-scale networks.

Proactive Service & Support:

·        Producesarchitectural network designs for medium-scale networks.

·        Makesperformance-engineering recommendations.

·        Assistscustomer with deployment of medium complexity tools and related NetworkManagement Systems

·        Jointlyreviews network requirements and High Level Design.

·        Facilitatesdesign workshop.

·        Jointlyreviews Low Level Design.

·        Jointlyreviews Implementation/ Change Management Plans.

·        Providesremote deployment support.

·        Providesconsultative support in Operation/Optimization of installed networks.

Reactive Service & Support:

·        Troubleshootsand resolves medium complexity customer network problems across a broad rangeof technologies.

·        Actsas a focal point for medium account network problem resolution.

·        Providessupport on a world-wide basis.

·        Providesbackup support for other NCEs.

AdvancedServices Technology Specialization Teams:

Required Skills:

•       Knowledgeablein one or more of: IP Internetworking, IBM inter networking, LAN Switching,ATM, WAN Expertise & Voice technologies, IP Telephony, SAN, CDN, Optical,Wireless, SDN, IPCC.

•       Internetworkingtroubleshooting experience.

•       Knowledgeableof Advanced Services Program model deliverables and expectations.  Beable to articulate value-add to Customers.

•       Undertakesupport as designated Advanced Services engineer for a small to medium-scalenetwork.

•       Networkdesign skills.

•       Abilityto leverage technical expertise of others.

•       Knowledgeof network management, network availability & capacity planning.

•       CCIEis preferred.

•       Programmingskills with Python, Java and other language is preferred.

Educational Background：

•        Typicallyrequires Deploma in Computing/Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalentplus at least 3-5 years related technical experience.  MSc is a plus.
